European

The European is a medium to large cat of medium height, with strong legs, solid rounded paws and a tail with an average length, wide at the base, gradually tapering to a rounded tip. The coat should be dense, short, close lying, springy and glossy. The head should be fairly large, the face should give the impression of being rounded, although it is a little longer than its breadth. Cheeks are well developed. The nose should be rather straight, of medium length and uniformly broad throughout its length. The transition between the nose and the forehead is marked by a shallow indentation at the level of eyes. The ears should be of equal size, slightly rounded at the tips, and can be tufted. The height of the ears corresponds to the width of the base. The eyes are rounded and open, wide-set and slightly oblique. The colour of the eyes should be clear and pure green, amber, blue, or odd-eyed (one eye blue, the other one green or amber). Recognised colours: white - with orange, blue or odd-coloured eyes, black, blue, red, cream, black and blue tortie, black, blue, red, cream, black and blue tortie with white of three kinds of white patchwork (Van, Harlequin, Bicolour), with a pattern - dotted, tabby or marble-black, blue, red and creamy, silvery - with all kinds of patterns, smoky - with all recognized full colours.
