The Ragdoll is a massive cat, medium to strongly boned and muscular. On the whole, it appears large and strong. Its body is long and muscular. The chest is broad and well developed. The mature cat is as broad at the shoulders as it is in the hindquarters, which is heavier and more muscular. The legs are of medium length, the hind legs are slightly longer than the front, giving the line of back a slightly forward tilt. The paws are large, round, with compact tufts of hairs between the toes. The tail is long, at the base it is of medium wide, slightly tapered towards the tip. It is well coated and bushy. The head is set on a short, strong neck, it is broad with a modified wedge shape, with a flat space between the ears. The nose should have a slight curve in the upper third. The cheeks are well developed, the rounded muzzle tapers to the chin. The ears are medium-sized, with rounded tips, set wide apart with a slight tilt forward. The Ragdoll has large oval eyes. The outer edge of the eye should be level with the base of the ears. The Ragdoll has blue eyes, in relation to the body colour. The coat is medium long, with a dense, soft, silky texture. It lies close to the body and breaks only when the cat moves. The coat is longest around the neck, framing the outer edge of the face, which gives the appearance of a bib. On the face it is short, and the length gradually increases from the top of the head to the shoulders down the back. On the sides, belly and hindquarters it is medium to long, on the front legs short to medium length. They mature in three or four years. Ragdoll colour point (seal point) has badges - ears, mask, legs and tail - in tawny colour. The basic coat colour is ivory, between the basic colour and the colour of badges must be a distinctive contrast. Until 1998, mitted varieties could be registered, in addition to the confirmed colour varieties. They were used only for breeding purposes - they could not gain the title. On January 1, 1999, FIFe officially confirmed these colour varieties.
